Ask a Librarian

In this short video, you will learn how to get in touch with the librarians at Sacred Heart University Library when you need some help.

Librarians are one of the best resources at the SHU Library whether you are trying to find something specific or just need help getting started with an assignment. There are a few ways to get in touch with us.

Librarians are available to answer your questions related to using library resources during our scheduled Ask a Librarian hours. You can view these hours by clicking the “Hours” link on the library’s home page and then looking at the Ask a Librarian hours section.

There are a number of ways that you can contact us to ask your questions. The easiest way to reach one of the librarians is to chat with us online by clicking on the blue chat button in the bottom-right corner of most of our web pages.

When you click on it, a text box will pop up where you can enter your question. This starts a chat with the librarian on duty. Chat hours are the same as our Ask a Librarian hours. If it states that the chat is offline, there will be a link to a page where you can search our FAQ to see if your question was already answered.

Additional contact information is available by clicking on the “Ask a Librarian” link in the “Research Support” dropdown menu on the library’s homepage.

You can always visit someone at the Reference Desk, or feel free to set up an appointment with a subject librarian for more in-depth research questions. We are also available by email, text, or phone. If no one answers the phone, please leave us a message and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

Remember: no matter how big or small the question, we are here to help! We look forward to hearing from you!
