Persistent Links / Permalinks: Creating Stable Links to Electronic Resources

where to locate persistent links with most databases

DOI Persistent Linking (for publishers not listed in this guide)

Stable links can often be created using DOIs (digital object identifiers). Using a DOI to create a stable link is useful when accessing a journal that the library subscribes to through a specific vendor/publisher not listed in the guide.

1.First locate an item's DOI - this is usually listed in the article citation (see below). You may also search for an articles DOIs here: http://www.crossref.org/guestquery. -  http://dx.doi.org/10.1891/2380-9418.12.1.102

2) Add the SHU proxy information to the beginning if the DOI - https://sacredheart.idm.oclc.org/login?url=

Example persistent link: https://sacredheart.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://dx.doi.org/10.1891/2380-9418.12.1.102
