In this video, you will learn how to use the Journal Finder tool on the Sacred Heart University Library website.
Journal Finder is a tool that will help you locate all of our journal titles. From the library’s home page, select Journal Finder from the Search menu in the gray navigation bar.
Journal Finder allows you to search for the journal in several ways. If you know the exact title or the ISSN of the journal, feel free to select those options from the dropdown to the left of the main search box. However, it may be better to leave the default section “Title begins with” at first.
Type the beginning part of the journal title in the search box and click “Search”. Journal Finder will return results of journal titles that begin with your search string.
Scroll to the journal title that you want. Note: if a particular journal is peer reviewed, Journal Finder will display a Peer Reviewed icon for that title. You will also see date ranges followed by database names. This lets you know the dates available in each database, and allows you to choose where to browse the title.
To browse the journal, click on the desired database that has the date range that you need. This will take you to the journal’s browse page within that database. From there, you can browse through the various years, volumes, issues, and articles available for that journal title.
Journal Finder also allows you to browse journals from different subject areas. On the main Journal Finder page, click on your general subject area under the “Browse by Subject” section.
This will open a list of more specific subject areas and will indicate the number of titles in each area.
