Welcome! In this succinct guide, you will find links to the major drug information resources that are available to you through the Sacred Heart Library. Plus, several quality sources from online, all organized here for easy and convenient access.

Sacred Heart Library Database Resources

The following resources can all be found listed on the Health Sciences databases page of the Sacred Heart Library website. Most of these databases provide extensive up-to-date drug monographs that contain evidence-based information - including brand names dosing, indications & usage, administrations, reactions & side effects, contraindications, interactions with other drugs, pricing, patient information, and more.

5MinuteConsult
One of the library's two clinical point of care resources, you can access its detailed drug database by locating the clearly-marked Drugs link.
AccessMedicine
AccessMedicine is the library's core medical reference database. To access its drug extensive monographs, simply locate the Drugs link in the main menu bar or the link on the front page under Browse by Category.
Natural Medicines
Whereas the other databases listed here focus on pharmaceutical drugs, Natural Medicines is the library's authoritative, evidence-based resource on natural and alternative medicines and also dietary supplements.
UpToDate
UpToDate is the library's other clinical point of care resource, and besides its own database of detailed drug monographs (which can be found under Content in the main menu bar) it also offers a handy drug interactions tool. UpToDate can be accessed both through the web and also through its downloadable phone app.

Selected Open Web Resources

ClinicalTrials.gov
Provides information on both US-government and privately funded research trials being conducted in all 50 states and in over 200 countries, and off course includes trials for new drugs and trials for drugs being applied to new indications.
DailyMed
A National Institutes of Health (NIH) resource, DailyMed provides official FDA drug label / package insert information for all drugs and medicines marketed in the United States.
Drugs@FDA: FDA-Approved Drugs
An index provided by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that lists every approved drug. Information about each drug can be found by clicking the appropriate drug name from the index.
LactMed
NIH's Drugs and Lactation Database (LactMed) provides information on drugs for breastfeeding mothers. Information includes potential adverse effects to breastfeeding infants from certain drugs and suggested alternative therapies.
MedlinePlus's Drugs, Herbs and Supplements
Drug and supplement information from MedlinePlus, the NIH's consumer health information website.
