The American Sociological Association (ASA), founded in 1905, is a non-profit membership association dedicated to advancing sociology as a scientific discipline and profession serving the public good. As the national organization for sociologists, the American Sociological Association, through its Executive Office, is well positioned to provide a unique set of services to its members and to promote the vitality, visibility, and diversity of the discipline.

The Association of Applied and Clinical Sociology (AACS) works to provide a common meeting ground for individuals interested in the application of sociological knowledge. It promotes the application of sociological knowledge for beneficial social change through scholarly, educational, programmatic, community, and policy activities, as well as promoting the use of applied and clinical sociology in local, regional, state, national, and international settings. AACS seeks to enhance the understanding of the interrelationship between sociological knowledge and sociological practice, while endeavoring to advance theory, research, methods, and training that promote the use of sociological knowledge for beneficial social change.

The Association for Humanist Sociology is a community of sociologists, educators, scholars, and activists who share a commitment to using sociology to promote peace, equality, and social justice. AHS was founded in 1976 in response to a growing disenchantment with mainstream sociological organizations and a belief that sociological practice should reflect humanist values. We strive to be an active support network for humanist sociologists.
