What is QuickSearch? How do I put in an ILL request? How do I access materials from off-campus?
The library offers answers to these questions and many more through our library videos and tutorials. The easiest way to find these tutorials is on the new Tutorials page.
These tutorials cover a wide variety of library services, tools, and other research tips, and are presented in several formats. Some highlights include:
Videos are generally about 1-3 minutes long. Each video has closed captioning that can be turned on/off, and a printable transcript with screenshots for easy reading.
Zotero is a free, open source citation management software that helps you manage your resources and citations in larger research projects. There is a video introducing Zotero, how to install it, and how to cite while you write using the Microsoft Word plugin. The other videos describe the more advanced options in using Zotero, including using the Library Lookup feature which connects you to the library’s resources.
Guided Tours help you get used to a database with a little help from your friendly librarians. In Guided Tours, the left side of the screen contains directions and hints, while the right side displays a live webpage with which you can interact. You can practice searching with guidance, before diving into your own research projects.
Faculty can embed any of these tutorials directly into Blackboard using the LibGuides Tool (we have a video about that too!).
