SHU’s Office for Inclusive Excellence leads and collaborates in strategy development and implementation of initiatives that foster diversity, equity and belonging. The work of OIE is aimed to create learning and working environments wherein everyone - students, faculty and staff - has the chance to thrive and succeed.

Multicultural Affairs seeks to foster an inclusive environment through intercultural competency and community building in an effort to develop, advance, and amplify the experiences of underrepresented students at Sacred Heart University. The Multicultural Center provides educational opportunities for all students, faculty, and staff to engage in cultural exchange.

The SAGE Center is designed to center, celebrate and uplift the experiences of SHU’s queer community. Additionally, it promotes the inclusion of all identities through programmatic and educational initiatives. All Pioneers are welcome to meet in the space to relax, learn and challenge themselves to better understand LGBTQ+ people, programs, allyship and history.

Heart Challenges Hate, a discussion series, aims to respond with knowledge, informed and reasoned discourse, faith and reason to the prevalence of hatred, bigotry and violence we are experiencing in America today. It is our assumption and responsibility as a Catholic university to speak against the injustice and violence.

The Inclusive Excellence Advisory Council (IEAC) is a representative group that is convened to advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB). The IEAC seeks to promote a psychologically safe environment of anti-racism/anti-oppression at Sacred Heart University. The membership composition and operating procedures are currently under review and development and will be published once completed.
