The Ryan-Matura Library provides a wealth of resources to students with the hope of assisting in the learning process. The staff of the library strongly encourage students to use every applicable resource made available to them, whether that means viewing one of our online research resources, meeting with a reference librarian or subject specialist, or simply reserving some space in the library for group work. Research Assistance
Beginning an assignment can be daunting for even the most seasoned student. To make the process go as smoothly as possible, please utilize one or any number of the following resources:
- Interlibrary Loan - Have you found the citation to a book or article that would be helpful for your assignment but our library does not have it. Never fear, as we can get it at no cost to you.
- Research Guides - These subject-specific guides have been produced by librarians to assist students with the research process.
- Research Consultation - The subject specialists at the Ryan-Matura Library strongly encourage students to consider a research paper consultation to assist you in defining your topic, locating resources and materials, and identifying potential research problem areas.
General Services
The following general services are provided to the student community by the staff of the Ryan-Matura Library:
- Computer Services - On the ground floor of the library, there are 14 Desktop computers available for research purposes. In order to ensure that they are reserved for research, they have not been outfitted with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Graduate Study Booth - The Graduate Study Booths is a way of providing Sacred Heart University Graduate Students with a space to study. At the present time there are three Graduate Study Booths. The booths have a door which gives the student an independent study space to concentrate and work.
- Group Study Room - The Student Groups Study Rooms is a way of providing Sacred Heart University students with a space to meet and work on group projects. The space in two of these rooms is outfitted with appropriate multimedia equipment for students to create and practice class presentations.
- My Library Record - Online access to a summary of your library account.
- Photocopying - Photocopiers are available for student use at 10 cents per page. A card reader is attached to the machine, which allows students to deduct funds directly from their "general funds" to pay for use.
- Printing - Printing from library computers is available at 10 cents per page.
