The Shenachie published via Digital Commons
George Waldron, President of the Connecticut Irish American Historical Society, contacted Cindy Li, Head of Digital Library Development early in 2011 to ask whether SHU Library could digitize and publish its newsletter, The Shenachie, as well as books written by the historian Neil Hogan. Cindy believes this timing was perfect as the University has just started an Irish Studies minor, and the collection will provide more rich contents to the students. Therefore she undertook the project. The CIAHS, founded in 1988, exists to research, preserve, and publish the Irish heritage of Connecticut residents, and it now has a home in SHU Library's Digital Commons. The Digital Library Development Department and Beverly Lysobey, Cataloger and Digital Commons Librarian, have now made these publications available at: http://digitalcommons.sacredheart.edu/communities.html. CIAHS is very satisfied with the end work and glad to continue to provide more resources to the collection.
