Evaluating web sites for quality of scholarship can be difficult. Here are some good and useful web resources, each of which have already been viewed and evaluated by librarians.
- American Anthropological Association (AAA) — The AAA site includes a Resources for Students in Anthropology page, as well as an Anthropology Resources on the Internet.
- The American Folklife Center - Ethnographic Resources related to Folklore, Anthropology, Ethnomusicology, and the Humanities. This site provides resources on museums and archives, organizations, and other areas.
- Emile Berliner and the Birth of the Recording Industry — This fascinating Library of Congress collection of early sound records (mp3, wav & RealAudio formats) includes recordings made by ethnologist George Mooney in the 1890s to preserve the traditional songs of the Arapaho, Kiowa, Caddo and other peoples. Researchers can access the collection through the Search page using terms such as "Ghost dance" or can Browse through the collection by subject to discover the ethnological recordings, wit & humor selections, speeches, and dozens of other treasures.
- The Internet Public Library (IPL) — The IPL's directory for online resources dealing with general anthropology. See also the IPL page on Archaeology.
- Native American Rights Fund, National Indian Law Library - This Web site provides access to Tribal Constitutions, Tribal Codes and other tribal law materials. Tribal Court Clearinghouse, Traditional Law Resources — This page provides resources relating to tribal custom, traditional methods of dispute resolution, and related subjects. University of Missouri, Department of Anthropology, Links — This site provides links to journals, funding agencies and other useful resources.
